Two $100,000 Gifts Put Foundation Campaign Over the Top

Two $100,000 Gifts Put Foundation Campaign Over The Top

Two donors put the Community Foundation of Delaware County over the top of its Quiet Campaign goal each with gifts of $100,000 to the Foundation.  “We’re thrilled that our residents see the value of a strong community foundation through this outstanding support,” says Marlene Casini, president.  “These contributions are a message that the Foundation’s work is important to our community.”

A few years ago, the Foundation started a fund raising campaign to help capitalize the Foundation—to provide the underwriting needed to expand the work of the organization.  Late last year, when the fund reached more than $325,000, an anonymous donor made a $100,000 challenge.  The challenge was for the Foundation to raise another $100,000.  Once achieved, the money would be matched dollar for dollar.

“Gifts to the campaign came from many sources,” says DG Edgerton, of Galena, the Foundation’s Board Chair.  Long-time contributors made gifts as well as from friends and business new to the Foundation.  “I have a soft spot in my heart for people who believe in the organization so much that they’re willing to help underwrite the cost of operations so we can do our good work.”

“We are deeply grateful for each dollar given to the campaign,” says Bill Rogers of Delaware, vice chair of the Board and Co-chair of the campaign.   Casini mentions, “Because contributions were of all sizes and gifts came from many areas of the county, we were able to demonstrate to the anonymous donors a range of participation.”

Last year, the Foundation created three new charitable funds, received more than a half million dollars in contributions and awarded more than a half million dollars in grants and scholarships.  The Foundation has grown to $7.4 million in assets.

The Foundation’s goal is to build the community endowment to provide for community needs now and in the future.

The Community Foundation of Delaware County encourages and enables donors to achieve philanthropic goals that leave a lasting legacy in Ashley, Delaware, Galena, Lewis Center, Powell, Ostrander, Radnor and Sunbury as well as other areas of the County.

Tax deductible contributions to the Foundation can be sent to the Community Foundation of Delaware County, 3954 North Hampton, Powell, OH 43065.  Visit the Foundation’s website at www.delawarecf.org for more resources on gifting.
